Abeokuta, Ogun State – The Nigeria Police Force, Owode Egba Area Command, under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olayemi, supported by the Area Crime Officer (2IC), has been commended for its swift and professional handling of a major land dispute involving seven Chinese companies and members of the Anisere family at Baase Village, via imo_emulu, off Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

On Monday 1st of September, 2025, officers of the Area Command arrested two block moulders in possession of a generator, three shovels, and two spanners on the disputed 20-acre parcel of land. The arrests followed a petition filed by Mr. Olorunsogo Ogunwemimo Anisere, who accused the companies of malicious damage and illegal possession.

Investigations, however, revealed that the land was legitimately sold in year 2021 by the Anisere family, led by Chief Olutayo Awolude, (head of Anisere family and the Baale of Baase Village), to Mr. Yao Diawen, a Chinese national, for ₦12 million through his agent, Mr. Lukman Subairu. The property was later transferred to Mr. Liu, another Chinese investor, who resold 15 acres to six additional Chinese partners.

In June 1st 2024, another encroachment attempt was made by a well known land agent in ogun state with support from some family members. This led to intervention by the Ogun State Task Force on Illegality and the Office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, which ruled in favor of the companies and affirmed their rights to continue development.

After reviewing the matter on Tuesday 9th of September 2025 the Owode Egba Area Command, led by ACP Olayemi and the Area Crime Officer, advised the petitioner to resolve the issue internally with his family, emphasizing that the land is under state government acquisition. The Ogun State Government has since issued provisional land allocations with assessment to the seven Chinese companies involved.

Speaking on the resolution, Supreme Guardian International Limited, an International Business Mediation and Company Representation, applauded the professionalism of the Nigeria Police.

With the intervention of the police and government authorities, development activities on the land have continued without disruption.
